In one of the best match-ups of Week 4 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017 Monterrey will host Leon at the Estadio BBVA Bancomer this Saturday, January 28, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific). Both teams are under-performing to start off the season, and need the three points to get back on track to making playoffs.
Antonio Mohamed carries one of the best rosters in all the Liga MX, but has failed to secure victories in his last two encounters. Monterrey could not secure the win against Chivas with two more men on the pitch in week 2 of the Clausura. Then last week ‘rayados’ gave up their 2-1 lead to Cruz Azul with an own goal in the dyeing seconds of the match.
Star man, Edwin Cardona has also been on the bench all season for Monterrey which is peculiar, as the Colombian midfielder cannot be happy with his playing time. It will be interesting to see if ‘Turko’ Mohamed plays him on Saturday night against Leon. Although, ‘rayados’ do count with the home support in this game the three points will be anything but easy.
Javier Torrente has managed to work well this season even with the absence of Diego Novaretti and German Cano. The big disadvantage for Club Leon this season has been the underperformance of their captain, Mauro Boselli, who is yet to score this season. Javier Torrente and his men are coming off a very tough loss, where Carlos Pena and Mauro Boselli missed two sitters in front of net against Alejandro Palacios and Pumas. The game should be one of the best of the Jornada and should bring a lot of excitement.
