Leeds Utd midfielder Alex Mowatt could join Barnsley in January transfer window. According to Phil Hay of Yorkshire Evening Post, the Tykes and the White are involved in talks over the 21-year-old midfielder, but any possible deal would depend on the Whites securing their own transfer targets.
Mowatt has fallen down the pecking order at Leeds under manager Gary Monk this season and has managed only four starts in the league.
Yorkshire Evening Post earlier reported that the Tykes have identified Mowatt as a potential replacement of midfielder Conor Hourihane, who joined rival Championship side Aston Villa on Thursday.
Mowatt has only about six months left on his current deal, and Leeds have failed to convince to sign a new contract. He is a product of Leeds academy and broke into the club’s senior squad in the 2013-14 season. In last four seasons, he has made 116 league appearances for the Yorkshire club.
