In what has to be one of the more laughable transfer links I’ve ever encountered, Stoke City central midfielder Charlie Adam has been targeted by Turkish giants Fenerbahce for signing in this window. This is reported by ESPN FC, who supposedly have sources close to the player.
Charlie Adam has been a decent Premier League player since he made the step up with Blackpool years ago. When he made his move to Liverpool, it didn’t go so well, but at Stoke he’s been a fairly good player. He’s always good for a long-range striker now and again, and he’s deadly from set pieces.
But what exactly would he do in Turkey? Can we really see him succeeding there? This is man that was caught with his shorts down on television during a preseason tour of America. Surely learning Turkish is out of the question, and the diet would be different.
This just seems very strange to me, and it’s not a slight on Adam. If this is true, it’s just a slight on Fenerbahce for moving for someone who clearly is not going to be a very good fit for that league.
