Liverpool defensive legend Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing attack on former teammate Daniel Sturridge by declaring that he is a different player now.

Sturridge, still just 27, clearly does not have the legs about him that he used to.  And Carragher makes the remark that “he doesn’t do anything else in a game now” besides (try to) finish.

Carragher has slammed the England man for not being able to contribute more to the cause of Liverpool.  This is something that’s a little frustrating to watch.  It’s clear that Sturridge cannot sprint at full speed like he used to.

But in the game yesterday, it really did look as if he was giving it his all.  He just doesn’t have the pace, and it’s a big reason why he’s not been selected.  His pressing has suffered because he simply cannot get around.

And that’s really what this is about.  Carragher is simply saying that he isn’t going to help Liverpool unless he scores, and his finishing last night was horrendous.  Something has to give, or this will end poorly for all involved.
