Liverpool’s entire season is on the line in the next week as they will host three matches in three different competitions at Anfield. On Wednesday night, they face Southampton in the EFL Cup Semi-Finals second leg. On Saturday, they face Wolves in the FA Cup. They then will welcome in Chelsea on Tuesday in the Premier League.
To start things off, Liverpool have spent a lot of energy chasing the EFL Cup this season. A loss would be devastating, but it will not be easy as they are 1-0 down after defeat at St. Mary’s in the first leg. Expect a strong side to be played because this is a massive priority. Klopp really needs to win a trophy this year, but he must stop the rot first.
Saturday will be just as big as Liverpool’s youngsters and fringe players will face much stiffer competition in Wolves at Anfield. After beating Plymouth narrowly, they’ll need to play much better to win, and to ever jump into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.
The match against Chelsea on Tuesday will determine whether or not Liverpool can kickstart a dramatic and unlikely comeback for the title. More importantly though, it will help determine whether they can simply compete for a spot in the Champions Leage. After the start Liverpool have made, it would be a massive failure to not even make Europe’s show piece tournament.
Three competitions, three important matches. Each need to be won, no matter what the performance looks like. Can Liverpool turn their season back around or will they be done after the week? We’ll find out very soon.
