Following Depay’s departure, Manchester United make significant advances to sign talented attacker

Old Trafford

According to reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola (via Sport Witness), Manchester United have made progress in their talks to secure the services of Goncalo Guedes.

Memphis Depay simply did not manage to make a positive impact at Manchester United and the club decided to recently cut their losses on the winger by offloading him to French Ligue 1 side Lyon for a fee believed to be in the region of around £21 million.

With Depay gone, United now seem to be in the market to sign other quality young attacking players and Benfica wonderkid Goncalo Guedes has widely been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

Now in reports from Portuguese outlet A Bola, it can be revealed that United are currently in talks with Benfica to sign Guedes and have made ‘significant advances’ in their attempts to land the services of the 20-year-old.

Guedes has enjoyed a stunning season with Benfica so far and the Portuguese international could prove to a good signing for United, with a fee of around £26 million being mentioned at the moment.
