Ivan Rakitic has suggested he might be on his way out of Barcelona, with recent rumors strongly linking him with a transfer to both the Manchester City and Manchester United.
The Croatian national has been a fine addition to the Catalans since his move in 2014, and helped club win treble in his first season at Camp Nou.
However, Rakitic’s place looks less assured now due to increased competition for places, leading to speculation for his move to Premier League. He has gathered strong interest from both Manchester clubs, who are willing to take his services.
Despite insisting he wants to stay and sign a new contract with Barcelona, we might see Rakitic playing in Manchester soon following his latest admission – as reported by the Metro.
Rakitic said: “I hope that I can continue here for many years. I want to renew my contract with Barcelona. I am worried because I always want to play but I have absolute confidence in the coach. I need to work but I’m confident.”
Rakitic is a complete midfielder and could be the perfect piece of the puzzle that City are missing at the moment. However, United are also in contention as they are looking for a replacement for Michael Carrick, who does not seem like he will be staying beyond the end of the season.
