One of the big questions being asked by the footballing world after Steven Gerrard’s retirement from playing months ago was when and where he’d pop up next. Liverpool have answered that question today by confirming that the former captain would be working as a youth coach at the academy.
Gerrard is remembered very fondly at Anfield for his years of service to the club. Save a short spell with the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS, Gerrard’s lone club was Liverpool throughout his entire career.
After leading Liverpool to famous victories in the FA Cup and Champions League, it is hoped that the former England international will be able to help drive some of the youth players on toward future greatness in his role.
In addition to helping those players out, Gerrard will have time to learn and grow into a potential management position at the club one day down the line. For now, Gerrard seems content to be back at home, and all is seemingly well with the world for now.
