One of the most noteworthy matches during Week 3 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017 will take place between Chivas of Guadalajara and Xolos Tijuana this Saturday, January 21, 2017 (7:06 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Chivas. The ‘rebaño sagrado’ will attempt to earn a win as revenge from last season when Xolos won 4-1 at the Estadio Caliente during the Apertura 2016.
Chivas has performed fairly well after two games into the young season (even after being 10th on the Power Rankings) earning 4 points of six possible. The team coached by Matias Almeyda will have two important absenses in defender Jair Pereira and Jose Juan Vazquez who received the red card in last week’s match against Monterrey. To their fortune, they will count with star forward Alan Pulido who was doubtful throughout the week following an injury.
Xolos of Tijuana enter this game after destroying Puebla last weekend at the Estadio Caliente with a 6-2 win on their 10th year anniversary celebration. The team coached by Miguel Herrera has earned 3 points after the first two games and therefore is in dire need for points this Saturday. The match against Chivas will be a difficult one, yet historically Xolos has performed well against their Guadalajara rivals, most recently having defeated them 4-1 last season.
