In recent days, it had been mentioned that Leeds United were involved in talks to sign Alexandru Maxim from 2.Bundesliga’s VfB Stuttgart. The Romanian international who has appeared in more than 100 games for the German club is now rumored to be the number one candidate to join Mexican giants Club America.
According to reports from Mexican newspaper Record, the ‘aguilas’ are still shopping for one more international signing during this winter transfer season. Accordingly, Maxim is the team’s ‘A’ choice which will ultimately put pressure onto Leeds Utd if they want to sign the player before the transfer season is over.
Thus far, Club America added players like goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin, midfielder Christian Paredes, and forward Cecilio Dominguez. However, the departure of fan-favorite star midfielder Rubens Sambueza left a hole in the attack which is yet to be adequately filled. For this reason, Club America wants to make one last major signing which will help the team offensively and to give the fans a much needed star incorporation.
The financial strength of the Liga MX club may give them an advantage over Leeds. With less than two weeks left in the transfer season, it will be interesting to see where Stuttgart send their midfield star.
