The first day of matches in the Copa MX Clausura 2017 will have Xolos of Tijuana visit Cimarrones de Sonora this Tuesday, January 17, 2017 (6:50 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Hereo de Nacozari. These teams form part of Group 1 which also includes Correcaminos UAT; only the first placed team will reach the next round.
Cimarrones from Hermosillo will face a very difficult opponent which will undoubtedly test their team’s capabilities. The team coached by Juan Carlos Chavez enters the match in a terrible form as they have already lost their first three games in the Ascenso MX. It will be interesting to note if he will use a lineup with regular starters or an alternative squad which will allow his players to rest for the much important Ascenso MX competition.
Xolos of Tijuana enter this match in celebration mode after defeating Puebla 6-2 at the Estadio Caliente in what was the team’s 10 anniversary. The team coached by Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera will most likely use a squad based of roster rotation players and from the u-20 team. Nonetheless, Xolos will be the favorite team to win as their experience and talent is greater than their opponents.
