Chelsea and Manchester United battle to sign 24-year-old defender

Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are in a battle to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij in the summer.

Since impressing in the 2014 World Cup where he was named in the Team of the tournament, de Vrij has been linked with a move to the English Premiership. The 24 year old is reportedly valued at £30 million.

As reported by Talk Sport: “Chelsea and Manchester United are leading the race to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij in the summer.”

Some English clubs had been keen to strike up a deal during the January transfer window, but Lazio are not keen.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, De Vrij will leave Italy in the summer and Chelsea and Manchester United are at the front of the queue to sign him.

The Premier League giants are big fans of the 24-year-old and both have scouted him this season on numerous occasions.
