The Sun claims that West Ham are confident of signing Brentford striker Scott Hogan in January. The Hammers have been after the Bees striker all throughout the transfer window and have already seen their three transfer bids turned down by the Championship club.

The Bees value their player at £15m and are not prepared to budge from their valuation.

The 24-year-old only featured on the bench for his side in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, and the general understanding, at the moment, is that the Hammers have already reached an agreement with the player and his parent club.

However, the report from the Sun also claims that the East London club are wary of announcing the signing as they fear a backlash from the fans over the stature of the incoming player.

West Ham are resigned to lose star player Dimitri Payet, and the fans want the club to complete a marquee signing this month.
