Championship club Aston Villa are competing with Premier League sides Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion in the pursuit of Egyptian striker Basem Morsy.

The latest report comes from ESPN FC, who claims that the sources close to the player have conveyed the information to them.

The 25-year-old has never played outside of his country. However, he has earned quite a reputation for himself on the back of his performances for his club Zamalek over the last two seasons.

He has managed to score 48 goals for his side since joining them in 2014. He has been quite prolific on the international stage too and has scored seven goals in 10 appearances.

However, he was omitted from the Egypt’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations due to a falling out with the coaching staff.

His current deal with Zamalek expires in the summer, and the club would be willing to sell him for the right price this month.
