Report: Celtic to Fight Rivals for Bargain Transfer Deal

According to sources close to the Daily Record, Celtic face a fight with chief rivals Rangers to sign Falkirk midfielder Craig Sibbald.  Sibbald, just 21 years old, has caught the attentions of both Scottish giants as well as others clubs around the UK this season.

His contract runs out this summer, so he could either be snapped up for relatively little money, £180,000, or he could be sold for the remainder of this season to see Falkirk get a little bit of compensation.  His manager is desperate to keep him where he is.

With so many clubs chasing him, Nottingham Forest is also apparently on the list, it’s hard to imagine the youngster staying at Falkirk.  With the side Brendan Rodgers is building, he’s likely to end up there.  He’ll have to fight very hard to get in the squad from week-to-week, but if he has the quality he’ll make it.

This looks like a great inexpensive gamble for Celtic, or any of these other clubs, to take.  They could potentially find a great young British player, after all.  Those are worth their weight in gold at the moment.
