Rodgers Praises Possible Celtic Signing- Reminds Him of Coutinho and Sterling

According to the Daily Record, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is close to signing 19-year-old Kouassi Eboue (waiting on work permit).  Eboue, just 19 years old is currently with FC Krasnodar in Russia.  The Ivorian is a very pacey player that is clearly highly thought of by Rodgers.

Rodgers said he need “10 seconds” to realize that he had the talent that former charges Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho have.  The fee, reported to be 2.8m, is rather small for a promising player.  If he is half as good as either of those two men, it’d be a huge success for Celtic.

Celtic are currently in the UAE training, and they’ll be hoping to soon have him link up with the squad.  However, Rodgers is hoping for even more signings.  Which is a little surprising given it will be hard to play all of his quality players!

This deal looks like it’s close to completion.  Celtic are clearly building something north of the border, and it may well lead to them once again becoming a force in European football.  The journey will be slow and long, but with young signings like this, it can come to fruition.
