Report: Rangers to move for 23-year-old Premier League striker

According to the vaunted Sun, Rangers could make a surprising move for West Brom striker Saido Berahino in the summer transfer window.  They go on to further say that the move would almost be free as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Apparently, Berahino rejected a new contract from the Midlands club earlier this week.  Berahino, still just 23 years old, has not been a big fan of Tony Pulis.  Pulis has been no fan of Berahino, either, and as such he’s barely played.  It would have been a huge shock to see him sign a contract extension.

Now, the prospect of losing him for very little is very real after they’ve turned down offers for Spurs and Stoke in the past.  But could Berahino suit up for Rangers?

In truth, this seems very unlikely.  It’s been reported of late that Mark Warburton, their manager, is on a short budget.  Berahino will surely have larger offers, maybe from clubs are well-funded as those in China.  He’ll no doubt take whatever he can get at this point, especially after feeling slighted by Pulis and West Brom.  Don’t expect this one to happen.
