According to a report from the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe is set to reach out to Liverpool for defensive help. Howe had helped mold Nathan Ake into a real rock at the back, yet he’s now lost his man as Chelsea decided to recall him from the loan.
As a result, the Bournemouth manager has been left scrambling, and it looks like he’s turned to Jurgen Klopp for help. According to the report, Howe is interested in two Liverpool center backs: youngster Joe Gomez and want away Mahamadou Sakho.
Bournemouth have turned toward these two players because they are both very good with the ball at their feet, a trait that Eddie Howe very much likes in his sides. Either would be an excellent pickup for the Cherries.
However, neither deal looks very likely. Liverpool clearly want to sell Sakho out right. And Bournemouth, even if they did get a loan, would probably not want to pay his full salary.
As for Gomez, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to keep him and is very happy to have him back. Don’t expect Klopp to let any youngsters go soon!
