Championship side Leeds Utd are reportedly involved in talks with German club VfB Stuttgart over a possible move for attacking midfielder Alexandru Maxim.
Inside Futbol, via local German source StuttgarterNachrichten, claims that Leeds opened negotiations with the Bundesliga ll club before Christmas and the talks are still ongoing.
Whites boss Gary Monk is reportedly a fan of the player since his time with Swansea City. While in charge of the Swans, Monk tracked the player, but a move never materialised.
The Romania international joined his current club in January 2013, and since then, has made more than 100 appearances for them. This season, he has scored two goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances in the second tier of German football.
He has made 27 appearances for his national team but failed to make the cut for the last year’s Euro Championships.
Hull City are also reportedly interested in the player, but, the report clearly states that Leeds are currently leading the race to secure his services.
