West Ham are set to rival Watford for the services of Brentford striker Scott Hogan, according to a report in the Guardian.

The Hammers are on the lookout for a proven goalscorer in the transfer market and have identified the 24-year-old as a possible target.

The likes of Simone Zara and Jonathan Calleri have failed to make an impact for the Hammers this season, and signing a striker in January has become manager Slaven Bilic’s top priority in the transfer window

The same report also claims that Watford are also interested in the player and have already made a £8m bid for him. Hornets’ bid reportedly consists of £2m in add-ons. However, the Hammers are prepared to match Hornets’ offer for the player.

The former Rochdale striker is attracting a lot of attention this January on the back of an impressive first half of the ongoing season.

He has scored 14 goals in 25 league appearances this season.
