According to reports from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are involved in a head to head battle with Barcelona to secure the services of Dayot Upamecano.
Despite stuttering a bit in recent times, Arsenal still remain in the hunt to claim the Premier League title and it is widely expected that manager Arsene Wenger will be looking to bring in a couple of players to the Emirates Stadium during the upcoming January transfer window in order to boost his side’s chances of earning a long awaited triumph in the English top flight.
A host of names have been linked with a move to Arsenal over the past few weeks and recently, claims had been made that the Premier League giants are currently considering a move for Red Bull Salzburg defender Dayot Upamecano.
Upamecano wanted by both Arsenal and Barcelona
Upamecano has managed to earn a reputation as one of the most promising young defenders around in Europe after breaking into the Red Bull Salzburg first team this season and Arsenal are said to be very keen on landing the services of the 18-year-old due to his immense potential.
Now in an update to the story, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have gone on to claim that even giants Barcelona are very keen on signing Upamecano at the moment and they will be giving Arsenal competition in the race to sign the French Under-19 international.
Upamecano is an extremely talented young player and Arsenal will now surely need to pull out all the stops in order to stave off competition from Barcelona to sign the teenage sensation.
