Manchester United reportedly ready to spend big to sign assist king in January

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, claims have been made that Manchester United are plotting an ambitious swoop to secure the services of West Ham United star Dimitri Payet.

Considering the hype that surrounded Manchester United this summer, it has to be said that the Red Devils have underwhelmed so far during the current campaign.

United have suffered a number of poor results in the Premier League and are currently languishing in 6th place in the table, a whopping 12 points off of top placed Chelsea.

While United may still have time to get back into the title race, the Red Devils clearly need to improve their performances soon and in order to do so, manager Jose Mourinho will in all probability have to strengthen his squad during the upcoming January transfer window.

Payet heading to United in January?

Rejuvenating the attacking lineup will surely be one of the main priorities for Mourinho and now according to reports from English outlet, the Daily Mirror, it has been claimed that United are currently considering a move for West Ham star Dimitri Payet.

Payet has arguably been one of the best players in the English top flight since his arrival at the start of last season and despite the Hammers’ struggles so far this term, the French international has consistently been producing quality performances.

Given his wonderful performances, Payet has been linked with a host of top clubs in recent times and Manchester United are believed to be keen admirers of the 29-year-old.

Now if reports from the Mirror are to be believed, United are ready to make their move for Payet and will be offering a whopping £35 million in an attempt to lure the former Lille star to Old Trafford during January transfer window.
