Manchester United are closely following the progress of Chelsea teenager Reece James, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims James’ impressive displays for Chelsea’s reserve teams have drawn United’s attention, but the Red Devils face competition from German Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig.

James’ primary position is at right-back, but he can also play in midfield.

He made his debut for Chelsea’s Under-23 side in their EFL Trophy game against Oxford United at Stamford Bridge last week.

Manchester United are thought to be on a mission to sign the best youngsters in the world and have been linked with a host of names in the past few months.

James could be tempted by the prospect of joining Manchester United, as Chelsea are not known for giving youngsters a chance in the first team.

The Blues are one of the clubs with the most players out on loan in the world, which could force James to consider his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
