Daily Mirror’s chief football writer, John Cross, has gone on to express his reservations as to whether Alexis Sanchez will put pen to paper on a new deal at Arsenal.
The duo of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have both undoubtedly been the most important two players for Arsenal over the past few seasons and it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing the Gunners already making moves to secure the duo to new long term deals as they both enter the final 18 months of their respective contracts.
While Arsenal have lost a host of their stars due to contractual wrangling in recent times, there is a sense of confidence that the Premier League giants will be able to tie down both Ozil and Sanchez to new contracts at the Emirates Stadium.
Sanchez to leave Arsenal?
However, Daily Mirror’s chief football writer, John Cross, has gone on to make a worrying admission for the Arsenal fans by stating that while Ozil could extend his stay at Arsenal, Sanchez may well think about moving to pastures new.
Cross told Sky Sports, “Of the two players Arsenal are trying to negotiate with at the moment – Ozil and Sanchez – Ozil is much more likely to sign.
“I think Ozil will sign, but Sanchez is a bit more problematic. He has just 18 months left now. He is a very good player, he had a very good first season and was not so good last season – it was disrupted by injury. And I still think it’s a little bit up in the air over whether he will sign.”
