Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard is set to be offered a new £60,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford, according to the Independent.
The report claims United are keen to secure the long-term future of the England international, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2018.
The 23-year-old established himself in United’s first team during Louis Van Gaal’s second season in charge of United and has kept his place in the starting eleven even after Jose Mourinho’s arrival earlier this year.
Lingard has taken advantage of Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s struggles at Old Trafford and it seems like he’s highly valued by Mourinho.
He’s already made 9 appearances in all competitions since the start of the current campaign, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
Even though Lingard often splits opinion amongst fans, he’s dependable enough to deserve a new deal.
He’s also a product of United’s youth set-up, which means he’s probably not going to look for a move elsewhere if he becomes a world-class player in the future.
