Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho expects Armenia captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan to be available for selection for the crucial trip to Liverpool on Monday night, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The report claims Mkhitaryan, who missed the last month due to a thigh injury, is still a key part of Jose Mourinho’s plans at Old Trafford and is expected to feature at Anfield next week.
The 27-year-old former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund last summer for a reported fee of £26.3m, has been frustrated in his efforts to establish himself in Mourinho’s starting eleven at the start of the season, but can now look forward to a fresh start at Old Trafford.
Mkhitaryan will surely be hoping to make an impact in the fierce derby against Liverpool in order to force his way into Mourinho’s plans.
He’s definitely talented enough to make it at United, but things will be very difficult for him if he keeps getting injured.
United could definitely do with Mkhitaryan’s creativity in attack, so his reported return would be a massive boost ahead of the game at Anfield.
