Manchester United are closely following the progress of young Udinese attacker Panagiotis Armenakas, according to Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb.
The report claims the United scouts have been keeping an eye on the young Australian, but face competition from fellow Premier League giants Arsenal.
18-year-old Armenakas, who can play on either wing and behind the striker, joined Udinese from Watford two years ago.
Armenakas has chosen to represent Australia despite playing a couple of games for Greece’s Under-17 team in 2014.
His primary position is on the left wing, but is pretty versatile, which is always an important trait for a young player.
United are believed to be keen to sign the best youngsters in the world in order to improve their youth teams and signing Armenakas would be a step in the right direction.
His contract expires at the end of the 2017/18 season, so Udinese could be under pressure to sell next summer if the youngster hasn’t signed a new deal by then.
