Arsenal miss out on top striker target

Icardi

Arsenal target Mauro Icardi has signed a five year extension with Inter Milan, according to 90min.com (via these reports). Arsenal had been pursuing Icardi hard, and they were thought to be one of the top candidates to get him.

However, with a new contract just signed, it is clear that Icardi has committed his future to Inter Milan. With less than two weeks to go until the transfer window closes, Arsenal are still searching for a striker and a center back.

Arsenal supposedly have the funds to make some major transfer moves, but they have yet to really make waves in the transfer market. Up to this point, Granit Xhaka is still their only high-priced signing of the summer despite some glaring weaknesses in the squad.

Arsene Wenger still has a few more days to sort out the transfer market woes for Arsenal, but if nothing gets done over the next few days it would be fair to say that this summer transfer window was a major failure for the Gunners.
