Manchester United duo Daley Blind and Juan Mata are set to stay at Manchester United this summer, according to the Daily Record.
The report claims Blind and Mata had initially been placed on the transfer list by Jose Mourinho, but the players have now changed the Portuguese manager’s mind and will remain at the club this season.
Both players were heavily linked with moves away from Old Trafford earlier this summer, but it now seems like they won’t be going anywhere.
Blind started United’s first two games of the season at the heart of the defense alongside new signing Eric Bailly and did very well.
Mata came on as a substitute in the Community Shield victory over champions Leicester City, but started at Bournemouth yesterday and even scored United’s opener before the break.
Keeping both players at the club would be a smart move.
Blind is a very intelligent, tactically astute player, whose versatility would be useful throughout the season.
Having a player with Mata’s vision and eye for goal at the club could be essential this season. It seems like he’s working hard on improving his work-rate, so it’d be a good idea to retain his services.
