Manchester United are willing to sanction Andreas Pereira’s loan move this month, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough are keen to secure Pereira’s services on a season-long loan deal and have already enquired about the youngster’s availability.
However, Pereira is thought to be keen to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford as he believes he’ll get enough chances to impress Mourinho in the Europa League and domestic cups.
20-year-old Pereira confirmed his desire to stay at Old Trafford last month, saying he’s prepared to work hard in training and wait for his chance.
“I want to show the manager, to show the people around the club, to show the players that I can help this season,” Pereira said.
“It’s very important for me. I want to show this in training and just keep working hard.
“I’m very happy I scored in the Wigan game, it was not a bad strike at all. I can play in other positions, but I enjoyed that role a lot.”
Despite Pereira’s reported desire to stay at United this summer, it’d be better for him to leave on loan.
Pereira needs regular first-team football in order to further his development, but he’s unlikely to get it at Old Trafford this season as he’s well down the pecking order.
Moving to Middlesbrough would be beneficial for him. He’d get more chances to play and would work under Aitor Karanka, who was Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.
