Report: Arsenal interested move for Serie A defender

Arsene Wenger

Arsenal is reportedly interested in making an offer for Torino defender Bruno Peres, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Torino are currently demanding €20 million for Peres, and they have already rejected an offer from Manchester City because they would not meet the €20 million demand.

Peres is an outside back who is capable of playing on the right or left side, although he is usually used as a right back. He is a skillful defender who completed 3.1 dribbles per game last season, while also producing 1.1 key passes per game.

Peres would be a good addition to the Arsenal squad as a backup player, but they already have Hector Bellerin who was a star at right back for the Gunners last season.

Nacho Monreal was also very good at left back for Arsenal last season, so if Peres arrives at the Emirates he would be behind Bellerin and Monreal on the depth chart.

It would be somewhat surprising if Arsenal was willing to pay €20 million for a backup player before they address their problems in the central defense, so a move for Peres in the near future seems unlikely.
