Arsenal reportedly interested in 68 times capped international striker

Arsenal are reportedly interested in 30 year old Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic, according to Football Insider (via Gazzetta World).

The report says that Arsenal will have to battle with West Ham in order to secure the signing of the Croatian striker, and it would likely require a transfer fee of around £17 million to get him from Juventus.

Mandzukic was a solid contributor to Juventus last season. In 27 appearances in Serie A he scored a total of 10 goals with 4 assists. Much like current Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, Mandzukic is very good in the air, and he won an average of 2.4 headers per game last season.

Mandzukic could be a good option as a backup striker for Arsenal, and he could challenge for starting minutes if Olivier Giroud struggles at all.

The Gunners should have a realistic chance to sign Mario Mandzukic since Juventus could be looking to sell the striker after acquiring Gonzalo Higuain.

Arsenal should be capable of getting Mandzukic if they want to acquire him, but they may decide that their money is better spent elsewhere during this transfer window.
