Arsenal have announced the signing of Bolton centre-back Rob Holding on a long-term deal.

The 20-year old has expressed his delight at signing for Arsenal, saying it’s a dream come true to join the Gunners.

“It’s something you dream of as a kid,” Holding told Arsenal’s official website. “I can’t wait to get started.”

Holding played 30 games in all competitions for Bolton last season and was voted the team’s Player of the Season, but still couldn’t prevent their relegation from the Championship.

The talented England Under-21 international, who can also play at full-back, helped England to an impressive triumph in the Toulon Tournament in France two months ago.

That was England’s first Toulon trophy in 22 years.

Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger, is famous for giving youngsters a chance in the senior squad and Holding will probably fancy his chances of establishing himself in the first team as soon as possible.

Arsenal still need defensive reinforcements if they want to challenge for the Premier League title next season, but maybe Holding could surprise everyone and make an immediate difference in the first team.
