Manchester United have asked about the availability of Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci during the negotiations for Paul Pogba, according to ESPN.
The report claims Jose Mourinho wants to sign another centre-back this summer and has identified the 29-year-old Italian international Bonucci, who Juventus value at around €60m.
Bonucci, who was a key part of Antonio Conte’s Italian national team that reached the ¼ finals of Euro 2016, is also believed to be attracting the interest of Manchester City and Chelsea.
The former Bari defender is one of Juventus’ best players and an essential part of arguably the best back four in European football in terms of experience and compactness.
Bonucci scored 3 goals in 41 appearances for Juventus last season. He’d be a brilliant signing for Manchester United, but the transfer doesn’t seem realistic.
If United manage to complete the signing of Paul Pogba, Juventus would probably be even more determined to keep Bonucci at the club as they wouldn’t want to lose any more key players this summer.
