Arsenal need to pay €45 million to sign defender

Manolas

Arsenal will reportedly have to pay a steep price if they want to make a transfer for Roma center back Kostas Manolas. According to goal.com Roma want €45 million in exchange for their star defender.

Manolas had previously been linked to a move in the English Premier League, and Arsenal was reportedly interested, but this high asking price seems to diminish the likelihood of Manolas leaving Roma this summer.

Manolas is a 25 year old Greek defender who played in 37 league games for Roma last season.

He averaged 1.7 tackles, 1.9 interceptions, and 4.1 clearances in these league games.

Manolas would be a major upgrade at center back for the Gunners, but €45 million is a hefty fee to pay for a defender. They will probably be able to find a better deal for another player at his position.

It now seems unlikely that Manolas will be joining the Gunners, as Roma are clearly reluctant to sell him. Arsene Wenger will have to look elsewhere if he wants to make an upgrade at center back.
