Manchester United enter agreement for striker with Premier League side

Old Trafford

Swansea City have announced the signing of young Manchester United defender Tyler Reid for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old full-back has signed a 3-year deal with the Swans.

Reid has expressed his delight at signing for Swansea City and has said he believes he’ll suit the team’s style of play.

“I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started,” Reid told Swansea’s official website.

“I see a good opportunity to play first team football with the Development squad here. I see myself as a quick, strong and powerful player who likes to get forward. I hope I can offer something both in attack and defence.

“Swansea play good attractive football and I think that suits my style of play.”

The youngster, who leaves United after four years at the club, will initially join Swansea’s development squad and will take part in their pre-season tour of Scotland this month.

Reid is a very promising defender. He was a regular for United’s Under-18s team last season and made one start for the Under-21s.

The defender also made 4 appearances for United in the 2015/16 UEFA Youth League, but couldn’t help the team advance from the group stage.

His decision has probably been motivated by his desire to play first-team football as soon as possible and can now look forward to making an impact at his new club.
