Report: Manchester United keen on signing two international midfielders

Blasie Matuidi

Manchester United are trying to sign both Paul Pogba from Juventus and Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to ESPN.

The report claims Pogba is Jose Mourinho’s primary transfer target this summer and United are increasingly hopeful of bringing him back to Old Trafford as the midfielder has already agreed personal terms with the English giants.

United are also believed to be keen to add Blaise Matuidi to the squad this summer. The 29-year-old, whose contract with PSG expires in 2018, scored 6 goals and made 6 assists in 39 appearances for the French champions last season.

Both players are currently representing France at Euro 2016 and will play the most important game of their careers so far when the hosts face Portugal in the tournament’s final on Sunday.

Either player would be a fantastic signing for the Red Devils. United need to add some energy and drive to their midfield and both players fit the criteria perfectly.

Signing both players seems highly unlikely, but even if United only manage to secure the services of one of them this summer, it’d still be an upgrade on the team’s current midfield options.
