Manchester United are set to announce another signing in the next 24 hours as Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to join the Red Devils, according to the Mirror.
Various reports suggest that the German outfit has accepted the bid and it is just a matter of time before the Old Trafford club announce its’ newest signing.
The reported signing of Mkhitaryan would be the third of the Jose Mourinho era, which got under way with Eric Bailly and then Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 27-year-old established himself as one of the premier players in the Bundesliga and the Armenian was rewarded by his efforts by being named the league’s Players’ Player of the Season.
His impending arrival would certainly give the United midfield a much needed boost but it also may signal the end of Juan Mata’s time in Manchester as well.
Mata was famously sold to United when Mourinho decided the Spaniard was surplus requirements at Stamford Bridge and although the “Special One” could change his mind about Mata, it is highly doubtful as Mourinho deems him one-dimensional.
The right wing in Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 system will most likely be given the task of setting up the likes of Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial so providing key crosses and passes will be vital.
Mkhitaryan would be a key upgrade as he delivered 15 assists in the Bundesliga league last season, which dwarfed Mata’s 5 in the Premier League.
