Report: Mourinho facing competition from PSG for Chelsea defender

Azpilicueta

Jose Mourinho is keen to sign Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta at Manchester United, but faces competition from French Champions PSG, as per Daily Mirror.

Although he still has 3 years on his contract with Chelsea, Azpilicueta has been linked with several clubs this summer.

In addition to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, both of whom are in the market for a new right-back, Spanish club Athletic Bilbao is also keeping tabs on the Spaniard.

PSG already have Serge Aurier in their right back position, but his behavior at the end of last season raised some doubts regarding the long-term future of the 23-year-old.

The defender aimed homophobic slurs at Zlatan Ibrahimovic and manager Laurent Blanc in February. As a result of his theatrics, Aurier was suspended by PSG for an indefinite period.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are looking to replace Matteo Darmian with Cesar Azpilicueta.

Despite getting extensive plating time at Old Trafford last season, Darmian failed to impress the Manchester United faithful.

As a result, one of the first tasks of Jose Mourinho is to find his replacement.

Thus, looking at the number of clubs who are after his signature, Cesar Azpilicueta might go for a hefty price tag in the coming months.
