Manchester United are in talks with Basel for Breel Embolo, but the English giants face competition from German side Schalke for the talented teenager, according to Italian journalist Matteo Pedrosi.
Pedrosi, who works for calciomercato.com, claims the Swiss champions are holding out for €25m for the physically imposing attacker.
Embolo, who’s made 3 appearances for Switzerland at Euro 2016 so far, has been heavily linked with a move to United in the last couple of weeks.
The talented striker is most comfortable up front, but was mostly used on the right wing last season.
It seems like Embolo will leave the Swiss champions this summer and even though he would have a better chance of establishing himself as a regular starter at Schalke next season, he could be tempted by the prospect of working under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Embolo is far from the finished article, but would still be a good addition to the United squad. He’s pretty versatile and has all the necessary attributes to adapt to the Premier League.
