Manchester United defender reportedly a target for Reading

Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett is a target for Championship side Reading, according to the Daily Mail.

The report suggests Reading’s new manager, Jaap Stam, wants to bring Tyler Blackett to the Madejski Stadium on loan this summer.

Stam played for Manchester United between 1998 and 2001 and the Red Devils are believed to be open to the idea of sending Blackett on loan to Reading as they think Stam would give the young defender some much-needed game time next season.

22-year-old Blackett, who can play at centre-back and left-back, spent last season on loan at Scottish champions Celtic, but only made 7 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Blackett failed to make an impact at Celtic last season, but it appears as though United haven’t given up on him just yet and want to make sure he gets regular first-team football next season.

Joining Reading would be a very good move for Blackett. He’d be able to play for an ambitious Championship team and would be able to learn from Jaap Stam as the Dutchman was one of the best defenders in the world during his time at Old Trafford.
