Earlier rumours linking Andros Townsend with Liverpool for a fee of £10m are completely false, according to Liverpool Echo.

The twenty-four-year-old English player has been a member of Tottenham for 8 years, from 2008 until 2016. However, during that time, he was on loan nine times, and he actually managed to score 3 goals in 50 appearances.

While it is true Liverpool is in need of a new winger, let’s be honest about it – bringing Townsend to Anfield would be one of the most desperate moves in the last few years, probably even more desperate than Andy Carrol’s acquisition after Torres left for Chelsea FC.

Currently, he is a member of Newcastle United, but as his team is relegated to the Championship, Townsend is probably going to seek a new destination for himself, and reportedly there are some Premier League clubs interested in signing him. However, it seems like there are absolutely no chances that his next destination is going to be Anfield.
