Manchester United have contacted the agent of Basel attacker BreelEmbolo, according to Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Di Marzio, who broke the transfer story about Matteo Darmian’s move to Manchester United last summer, is reporting that United have made contact with Embolo’s agent, Erdin Shaqiri, and are using Jorge Mendes to broker the deal.
19-year-old Embolo is currently representing Switzerland at Euro 2016, so any move for the player would have to wait until the end of Switzerland’s participation in the tournament.
Embolo enjoyed a good 2015/16 season at Basel, scoring 13 goals and providing 1 assist in 40 appearances.
Even though his preferred position is up front, he spent last season playing mostly on the right wing.
Embolo doesn’t look ready to be a regular starter for Manchester United, but he has enough potential to justify a move to the English giants.
His ability to play out wide would be invaluable to the team as United’s attacking play on the right wing hasn’t been efficient enough in the last couple of seasons.
The talented teenager seems certain to leave Basel this summer and it appears as though United would face little competition for his signature.
