According to AS, a Spanish sports newspaper, Leicester City N’Golo Kanté has been offered to Real Madrid. The club is considering going for the transfer.
The defensive midfielder had a spectacular city with surprise Premier League champions Leicester City. Like most of his teammates, other clubs have taken notice and interest for his services has increased.
He’s also playing the Euro 2016 with France and proving his worth in another international stage. His release clause is 25,5 million euros, a complete bargain compared to Pogba or other midfielders in the market.
Los Blancos only have Casemiro as a natural #5, so the board is studying Kanté’s case and whether or not they should keep pursuing this.
AS also reports that if the club chooses to go through with it, Pogba’s potential signing wouldn’t be stopped, as both players would be compatible according to them.
Real haven’t had much luck with defensive midfielders since Claude Makélélé, with only Xabi Alonso truly performing up to the standards expected by the club.
The long season ahead will be easier for Zidane if he has two men per position. Kanté has what it takes to join the squad, but it should be studied thoroughly.
Signing him to make him a secondary man after Casemiro wouldn’t be fair, as his future seems bright. However, if they do decide to buy him, they must move fast.
