Report: Manchester United target tells Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave

Mkhitaryan

In an interesting development on Wednesday morning, BBC Sport has reported that Manchester United target Henrikh Mkhitaryan has told Borussia Dortmund he wants to leave the club in this transfer window.

It is also reported that the player wants to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Although he still has 12 months remaining on his current contract, Mkhitaryan has told the Borussia Dortmund higher ups that he has no intention of extending his stay at the Signal Iduna Park.

Arsenal have also been long-term admirers of the Armenian, who enjoyed a brilliant 2015/16 season for the German giants.

In addition to scoring 11 goals in the Bundesliga last season, the 27-year-old provided 15 assists to his teammates.

Thus, for a midfielder who could be deployed anywhere in the final third, Mkhitaryan would immediately improve the attacking power of the Red Devils.

One thing that might block his move to Manchester United is the exodus of star players from Dortmund in the last few weeks.

In addition to selling the likes of Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively, it is also reported that striker Aubameyang is attracting interest from England.

Thus, at a time when the core of his team has been lost due to transfers, Thomas Tuchel could block the proposed move of Mkhitaryan to Manchester United.
