Manchester United are keen on AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen and have inquired about his availability, according to Dutch publication VoetbalPrimeur.
The report suggests United are keeping an eye on Janssen’s situation, but they aren’t the only interested club as Tottenham, West Ham and Wolfsburg are also keen on the Netherlands international.
AZ Alkmaar are believed to be looking for a fee of around €15m for the player. The 22-year-old, who left Almere City for AZ Alkmaar last summer, scored 29 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie side last season.
Janssen is a player with a growing reputation. After setting the world alight in his first Eredivisie season, in which he became the league’s top scorer with 27 goals, he received his first call up to the senior Netherlands team less than three months ago and has already scored 3 goals in 5 appearances for his country.
It appears as though Janssen is set to move abroad this summer. He should join a club where he’d be a regular starter, but could be tempted to follow in the footsteps of Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Robin Van Persie by moving to Manchester United.
Janssen would be a very good option to have in the squad, but given United’s reported pursuit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford’s meteoric rise in recent months, the Dutchman’s move to Old Trafford doesn’t seem likely.
