According to reports coming from Manchester Evening News (via Italian Newspaper Corriere dello Sport), new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants PSG midfielder Marco Verratti at Old Trafford in this transfer window.
In an effort to indicate their strong interest in Verratti, The Red devils are willing to pay the Italian wages of around £6.7 million per year.
Although he is one of the star performers for PSG, game time was limited for Verratti at PSG last season.
He made only 18 appearances for the French Champions in Ligue 1, with 7 out of those coming from the bench.
Reports also claim that Mourinho is in regular contract with Verratti in a bid to convince the Italian to join him at Manchester United.
One thing that could force Verratti to leave Parc des Princes is the proposed arrival of N’Golo Kante.
After a brilliant season for Premier League Champions, the Leicester midfielder looks set to complete his move after the Euro 2016.
Thus, while he already wasn’t the first choice at PSG, the arrival of yet another defensive midfielder would greatly decimate the playing time for Verratti.
As a result, he would have to move elsewhere if he wants to get regular playing time. However, one thing that might stop his move is the contract of Verratti with PSG.
In February of this year, the Italian signed a contract with the French club that will keep him in Paris until 2020.
Thus, if Mourinho wants to lure him, the Red Devils will have to pay a substantial amount to get the services of Verratti.
