Manchester United reportedly ready to make record breaking bid for 23-year-old

Manchester United are prepared to bid €100m for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, according to Italian news outlet Corrieredello Sport.

The report suggests Jose Mourinho has made strengthening his midfield a priority this summer and is keen to use Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s excellent relationship with Verratti to convince the Italian to move to Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic, who’s widely expected to complete his free transfer move to Manchester United once Euro 2016 finishes, has reportedly urged Jose Mourinho to bring Verratti to Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who was ruled out of Euro 2016 due to a sports hernia, made 4 assists in 27 appearances for PSG last season.

Verratti is one of the best midfielders in the world and would make a massive difference to the United team.

He’s a brilliant passer of the ball, but also does a fair bit of defensive work, so United could finally get a worthy successor to club legend Paul Scholes.

However, Verratti recently extended his PSG contract until 2020, so the French champions are likely to resist any approach for the player.
