Report: Real Madrid to Stop Pursuing Manchester United Goalkeeper

De Gea

According to Marca, a Spanish sports newspaper, Real Madrid have decided to stop pursuing David De Gea and keep Keylor Navas as the starting goalkeeper.

Thanks to Zinedine Zidane’s persistence in the matter, club president Florentino Pérez will follow his coach’s wishes to keep Navas, Casilla and Yáñez as the three team goalies.

The Costa Rican’s spectacular season has earned him well-deserved praise from most people. With his absence from the Copa America Centenario, he has plenty of time to recover for the upcoming term and focus only on Real Madrid.

Casilla also showed his skills when he was given the opportunity. Because of this, bringing another top keeper would disrupt the current dressing room environment.

The Casillas-Navas-Diego López situation would be repeated, with one clearly leaving the Bernabéu because of overbooking and salary matters.

While David De Gea remains one of the most prominent #1s in the world, Zidane has given priority to other positions for this summer transfer window.

Manchester United won’t let him leave for a low price and if Galactico signings occur, Los Blancos would be forced to sell a top player to make up for the expense.

If the FIFA ban stands for 2017, the squad is more than covered with the current three men.
