Report: Dutch attacker confirms he’s signed with Manchester United

According to the Mirror, Dutch winger Tahith Chong has confirmed he is joining Manchester United.

The young Dutchman, who has been in Feyenoord’s academy for the last six years, has updated his Twitter and Instagram accounts by writing, “Future player of Manchester United.”

Chong has been on United’s radar since last year when the Dutch side competed in the Premier Cup held at United’s Carrington training complex.

Current United youngster Angel Gomes welcomed the news of Chong on Twitter, writing: “The man welcome #mufc.”

After a quiet few weeks where Jose Mourinho was just getting settled, the Portuguese manager has been putting the pieces in place to build United back up to Premier league dominance.

The young Dutch winger is only 16 years of age so the reported signing is certainly one for the future, but the highly rated Chong was supposedly chased by rivals, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

It may be a few years before we see the return of a Chong signing, but he will add value to the left wing, where he generally has played. There is no question that Anthony Martial has locked down the left wing, but there is certainly doubts over the future of Chong’s compatriot Memphis Depay.

Although Chong is quite young, the reputed signing appears to be a good long-term investment as he is known to be very explosive and skillful on the wing.
